Dear _____________________ Parent/Guardian:

This letter is being sent to inform you of the upcoming health and puberty education series for our students. The presentations cover information related to the natural changes in children’s bodies that happen during puberty. This is mandated curriculum for all puberty-aged children. Superstar health educators are highly trained to ensure the children learn medically accurate, age-appropriate, and shame-free information. They also create a fun, safe and inclusive learning environment for all children and family structures.

The series entails (4) 1-hour sessions for a total of 4 hours.  The dates of the series are _______________________. All sessions will be overseen by your child’s regular classroom teacher, who will be able to answer any questions that arise.  The children will also be given booklets that contain all of the information that they will be learning.  We would like to encourage you to talk with your child about what they are learning during the sessions.  Also, you can use the workbook as a starting off point for discussions or when answering any questions your child may ask.
Health Education instruction helps youth understand:
  • The changes in the body, mind and emotions, that most people experience during adolescence.
  • Personal hygiene and the importance of taking care of yourself.
  • The reproductive systems functions.
  • Making good decisions and staying away from risky activities.

You can examine instructional materials at the main office or online at superstarhealtheducation.com.  If you have questions, please see the teacher or principal. State law allows you to remove your student from Health Education. If you do not want your student to participate in the Health Education program, please give a note to your student’s teacher by _______________(date).

The goal of a health education program is to help students learn the facts and to make good decisions now, and later in life.

Sincerely,

Principal/Teacher/Nurse
